Pakistan crosses 100 Mn Broadband users Milestone

Broadband subscriptions in Pakistan have surpassed 100 million, thanks to supportive government policies, strong competition among telecom operators, and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority's (PTA) commitment to implement and use innovative technologies.

In 2012, Pakistan had fewer than 2 million subscriptions; however, after the launch of 3G services in 2014, the number jumped to 16 million in 2014, and then to 100 million in 2021. At one of the lowest rates in the country, 87 percent of the population now has access to internet/broadband networks.

Broadband is delivered through 3G/4G networks at an average download speed of 17.7 Mbps and an average upload speed of 11.3 Mbps (mobile), which outperforms other regional countries.
