Government to invite PayPal to Pakistan next week

 Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif will attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland next week where he will meet global leaders, the CEOs of energy sectors, and commerce delegations. He will also meet with PayPal representatives and invite the company to launch its services in Pakistan.

PayPal is a financial technology company that allows its users to easily exchange money online. The company is fully functional in more than 190 countries with over 361 million active users worldwide. However, it is not available in Pakistan. As a result, the freelancing community faces problems while accessing payment in exchange for their services.he Pakistani freelancing community often demands that the government should take steps for Paypal in Pakistan. In response, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication during Imran Khan’s tenure announced that PayPal is not coming to the country on account of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) objection, fearing terror financing, as well as, the international gateway is already serving major chunk of the Pakistani clients having accounts in the UAE and other countries.
